The model:  This is Bryan's second scratch built model since joining CT in 2007.  Bryan has proven to be an excellent builder and takes pride in the quality of his work.  You can see that in the nice real manogany decking he laid on it and it's great detail work.

The real boat:  This was the first hull sponsored by Ole Bardahl which was the former Tempest hull from the previous year, 1956.  A smaller hull at 27’4” she was built by Norm Christiansen of Seattle and was powered by an Allison V-1710-113 engine.  Under driver Norm Evans the Bardahl scored its first heat victory in Heat 1 A of the Sahara Cup on Lake Mead.

After 1957, the U-4 became the legendary Miss Burien.  In 1959, the Burien sank in 110 feet of water during the 59 Diamond Cup on Lake Coeur d'Alene.
